About Our Parks

The Parks Department maintains about 200 acres of developed parks and public lands and 1.4 miles of trail. Maintenance includes irrigation, fertilization, mowing, trimming, planting, general care of trees, shrubs and flowers and trash removal from the parks. Lamar's Ballpark Complexes, Escondido Park, and McCorkle Field are maintained on a year-round basis.  The Parks Department also maintains the Lamar Swimming Pool.  Additionally, the department completes many special projects to develop, enhance or improve the parks.
