The Mission of the City of Lamar is to provide effective, courteous, efficient, high quality of public services and promote the health, safety, and welfare of our residents, businesses and visitors in the most cost effective manner.
The City of Lamar, crossroads of America, seeks to enrich the existing community by promoting economic development and opportunity.

opportunities. Job opportunities are created by new and expanding business opportunities and there is a wide
range of housing.

Lamar has established good communication and solid working relationships with other municipal and non-profit agencies in the region, state, and across the country built on trust and respect.
Lamar is a financially sound, proactive City that is customer-focused, responsive to citizen needs, works actively for residents and visitors, and is the recognized leadership community on the Eastern Plains.
Our Priorities:
Priorities are the most important things on which the City will focus time and energy. By accomplishing our priorities, the City of Lamar can also address our Areas of Focus.
The City recognizes the need to build, maintain and preserve all of our capital assets within a management plan. This will allow us to budget correctly based on needs and plan for the long term future and development of Lamar. Issues we will address in this Priority include a Capital Improvement Plan (CIP).
Our downtown is a significant asset to the community, and the City intends to support and create opportunities for both existing and new business owners. Our support will be focused on attracting new retail and restaurants in cooperation and collaboration with our regional partners including the DDA, Prowers Economic Prosperity, and Lamar Partnership Inc.
Housing is a critical factor in the growth and development of Lamar into the future. The issues that we will work on in this Priority include an update of the Comprehensive Plan and the Annexation Plan, which will allow us to know where and how we might grow.
At the local, state, regional, national and international level, the City of Lamar will conduct outreach, ask for feedback and input, and make decisions with our partners using all communication tools available. This includes internal communications as well as with our partner agencies.
