June's Common Grounds with the Lamar Fire Department

At this month’s Common Grounds meeting on June 4th, Lamar Fire Chief Jeremy Burkhart, Deputy Chief Marcus Widener, and Captain Ryan Cook shared some exciting updates.

LFD will host its annual Fourth of July fireworks show on Friday, July 4 at approximately 9:15 PM at the fairgrounds. The display will be visible from the south end of town, especially near Lamar High School and Lamar Community College. Please remember that ANY fireworks that leave the ground or create loud booms are illegal. To report illegal fireworks, call Dispatch at 719-336-3977.

The Department is currently hiring for two full-time positions: Fire Captain and Fire/Ambulance Engineer. For full job descriptions and to apply, visit https://ci.lamar.co.us/employment-opportunities.

LFD is also in the process of adding a new fire truck to its fleet. As of May 24, a new Pierce apparatus is officially in production at the manufacturer’s Bradenton, Florida facility.

Looking ahead, the Department remains focused on long-term goals such as updating equipment and gear, expanding fire prevention education, and supporting professional development for its staff.

Thank you to our Lamar Fire Department for your continued dedication and service to our community.
