FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Lamar, Colorado, June 16, 2025) In observance of America’s 249th Birthday, most City of Lamar offices will be closed on Independence Day, Friday, 7/4. Additional details include:

Building Closures – The City of Lamar offices, City Complex, City Clerk's office, Community Building, Public Works office and the Community Resource and Senior Center will be closed on Friday, 7/4, in observance of Independence Day (Fourth of July).  The Community Building will reopen for regular hours (9:00 am – 4:00 pm) on Saturday, 7/5. The Lamar Public Library will be closed on Friday, 7/4, and Saturday, 7/5. All City offices will reopen on Monday, 7/7.

Landfill – The City of Lamar Municipal Landfill will be open regular hours on Friday, 7/4, from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.

Residential Trash Pick-up -

• Residential refuse collection for Friday, 7/4, will remain the same. Please have containers in place the night before or before 6:00 am.

Commercial Trash Pick-up –

• Commercial refuse collection for Friday, 7/4, will remain the same. Please have containers in place the night before or before 6:00 am.

Cardboard Route

• Cardboard collection for Friday, 7/4, will be collected on Thursday 7/3.

Police, Dispatch, Fire & Ambulance Services will maintain regular hours. For non-emergency needs, call Prowers County Dispatch at 719-336-3977.

NOTICE:  July’s Free Dump Weekend is Saturday, 7/26, from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm and Sunday, 7/27, from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm. 1 load limit per day at transfer station. All other loads must go to the landfill. Find more details regarding this monthly event at https://ci.lamar.co.us/free-dump-weekends.
