The winner for the April Wellness Challenge is . . .

Special thank you to everyone who participated in the Sleep Challenge.
June is Men’s Health Month
June is Men’s Health Month which focuses on raising awareness of preventable health issues and encourages early detection and treatment of diseases like cancer, heart disease and depression.
Tips on how you or someone you know can observe Men’s Health Month:
Improve your diet
- Use Men’s Health Month to make small changes such as cutting back on alcohol or adding healthy fermented foods like kefir and sauerkraut to your diet.
Set health goals
- Take time to assess where you are and where you want to be. Whether it’s losing weight, gaining muscle or eating more veggies. Talk to your doctor for added support.
Learn more
- Read up on common men’s health issues and how to prevent them. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is a great place to start for up-to-date information.
Extension on The Healthy Habits Bingo
- Game Type: Blackout Bingo (complete the whole card)
- Objective: Encourage healthy habits at work by completing every square on the BINGO card.
- Game Duration: May 14, 2025 – June 25, 2025
- Celebrate Completion: Send a photo of your completed BINGO card to info@ci.lamar.co.us to be entered for a chance to win a $25 Amazon gift card.
Create a Wellness Board for your Department!
The Wellness Committee would like to open this up as a summer challenge. We are encouraging all City of Lamar departments to start a Wellness Board. To get started, hang up a bulletin board, poster board, or whiteboard where staff can share and contribute. Send a photo of your department’s Wellness Board to info@ci.lamar.co.us by July 31st to be featured in the next City of Lamar Employee Newsletter.
Here are a few ideas to get started:
- Motivational quotes or daily affirmations
- Gratitude corner – notes of appreciation for team members
- Self-care tips and mental health resources
- Mindfulness prompts or weekly wellness challenges
- Pictures from walks or nature breaks
- Anything that inspires you!
Encourage creativity and participation. The Wellness Board is a space where we can support each other and celebrate small steps toward better well-being. If you have questions or ideas for your department’s Wellness Board or other activities, reach out to Margaret Saldana or Courtney Recio. We would love to hear from you!
Wellness Guide
How the Wellness Program Works
- The program runs January 1 – December 31 each year.
- Join in on pre-approved activities and events that promote wellness.
- Each activity is assigned a gift value by the Wellness Committee.
- Did you know? You can also submit receipts from doctor’s appointments, dental checkups, vision exams, and other health-related visits to earn credit toward your wellness goals! Example: You can submit a recent receipt from a dental checkup and earn a $25 Amazon gift card.
Email a copy of your receipt to Margaret Saldana at margaret.saldana@ci.lamar.co.us or call her at 719-336-1366 with any questions you have. For more information about the Wellness Program, visit: https://ci.lamar.co.us/wellness-program
