April is Community Clean Up Month

(April 4, 2025) The City of Lamar's Public Works Department is excited to announce that April is the City's Community Clean Up Month for 2025. Each weekend of April will be an additional free landfill and transfer station weekend. Mark your calendars for April 5th, 6th, 12th, 13th, 19th, 26th, & 27th. The Lamar Transfer Station and Landfill will not be open on Easter Sunday, April 20th.
During the additional free landfill and transfer weekends, household waste will be accepted free of charge. This excludes construction and demolition waste.
Locations:
- City of Lamar Landfill: 29141 County Road 14 (6 miles east of Lamar on Hwy 50 and 2 miles south on County Road 14).
- City of Lamar Transfer Station: 609 Crystal Street
Hours:
- Saturdays 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM
- Sundays 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM
Transfer Station
- 1 pickup load, per household, per day
- E-Waste accepted
- Up to 4 tires per day (excludes semi tires)
Landfill
- Unlimited loads, per day
- E-Waste accepted
- Up to 9 tires per day (semi tires accepted at extra charge)
All loads must be tarped.
- Must provide valid ID with address in city limits or utility bill.
- Sanitation customers must bring proof of bill for sanitation/trash.
- Paint, oil and pesticides must be labeled.
As a community, we are better when we work together! Help your neighbor or ask someone you know for help. Let's take pride in our community and work together to keep it clean and beautiful.
Additionally, the City of Lamar will highlight various groups who are actively working to beautify the community during the community clean up weekends.
How to Participate:
- Gather your group - church group, school, club, or team and enlist by calling 719-336-2774, Monday-Fridays from 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM.
- Choose a day or dates during the City of Lamar Community Clean Up Month.
- April 5th, 6th, 12th, 13th, 19th, 26th & 27th
- Select your location in & around Lamar to include neighborhoods, parks, and major streets, and other locations that accumulate trash.
- Share your participation on social media with the hashtag: #lamarlovewhereyoulive and tag @cityoflamar
- Optional: Send photos and details about your group to info@ci.lamar.co.us to be highlighted on the City of Lamar’s social media.
- Obtain your trash pass at the Lamar Community Building during business hours.
- Bring your bagged trash to the Lamar Transfer Station located at 609 Crystal Street or make arrangements for a City pickup at 719-336-2774 prior to your volunteer day.
- Participating groups will be entered into drawings for Lamar merchandise and Lamar Chamber Luv Bucks.
