Fire Department  (Non-Exempt)

The City of Lamar Fire Department is seeking a dedicated and skilled Fire Engineer/EMT with classification and pay level based on qualifications, certifications and experience.  This full-time position offers an opportunity to serve your community while advancing your career in fire service and emergency medical response. 

Qualifications:  Shall be certified as an Emergency Medical Technician Basic, Advanced or Intermediate or Paramedic, by the State of Colorado.  Applicants must possess a valid Colorado driver’s license.  Applicants shall be certified as a Fire Fighter 1 under the Colorado Division of Fire Safety or become certified within two years.  Hazardous Materials Operations or Technician level certifications preferred.  

Preferred Qualifications: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school, one year of experience as a Firefighter or as a volunteer and knowledgeable in all aspects of general fire-fighting tactics, and operations of all fire apparatus and equipment.

Pay Range:

Pay is commensurate with qualifications and EMT Classification Levels: 

Basic ($20.45- $28.07)

Advanced/Intermediate (22.37 - $30.73)

Paramedic  ($24.45 - $33.66) 

Starting Pay:  New hires typically start at minimum rate for each level.
