Commander Jamison Sherrill

Position: Commander of Operations

Commander Sherrill recently celebrated 15 years of service with the Lamar Police Department, starting as a patrol officer on May 31, 2009. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2013 and served as a senior patrol supervisor for eleven years before being appointed to Commander of Operations in January 2025. In addition to supervisory duties, Commander Sherrill has served as a field training officer, field training coordinator, K9 officer partnered with a dual-purpose patrol K9, SWAT team member, firearms instructor, and arrest control instructor.

In addition to maintaining high standards in training, ethics, and performance, Commander Sherrill is a strong proponent of community-oriented policing methods with a focus on fostering cooperation and partnerships with residents, community organizations. and other agencies to proactively address community concerns.
